Iron Maiden concert in Bratislava
The first day of June in 2025 will be a fantastic day. Hopefully the sun will shine, people will be smiling, and tens of thousands of people will sing along to their favorite songs as Iron Maiden enters the stage at the Ondreja Nepelu Arena in Bratislava. The band has been to Bratislava several times before, and it was one of few bands allowed to perform within the Iron Curtain during communism… but who knows for sure how many more times Iron Maiden will come to Bratislava? If you are a fan of the band, take advantage of this opportunity to listen to them and to experience them live in Slovakia.
Iron Maiden will visit lots and lots of cities all across Europe during their big tour in 2025. The first concert of the tour is in Budapest on May 27, and after that the band will travel to Prague before they return to Bratislava, and then travel to visit the vikings, that is, to Norway.
Some people wonder how Iron Maiden was allowed to play behind the Iron Curtain, while so many other bands, movies, and books were banned? It is important that this all happened during the 1980s, a time in which the Soviet Union opened more and more towards the west and keywords such as Glasnost (openness) became keywords in the mentality. Even though Iron Maiden had lyrics that could seem threatening to some, the band’s broad appeal and ability to speak to universal themes without explicitly engaging in politics might have been key to their being allowed to perform behind the Iron Curtain.

The arena is normally used for ice hockey, but during concerts, there are normally around 10,000 people in the arena. It is expected to be completely full on both evenings, so if you are eager to listen to Iron Maiden in Bratislava, buy your tickets as quickly as possible. If you want to get to the arena using public transportation, the easiest option if you are in the city center is to travel with tram line number 4 in direction of Zlaté piesky. You need to get off the tram at the Zimný štadión stop, which is directly next to the arena.
